Designed around the comfort of patients requiring surgeries that do not require an overnight stay, this freestanding, 59,000-SF outpatient surgical center is set on a remote campus and includes:

• 10 operating rooms
• 31 pre- and post-op rooms
• Central sterile and reprocessing
• Spacious, welcoming lobby and waiting area with access to an exterior “healing garden”
• Family lounge
• Cafe with indoor and outdoor seating

Increasing the Maine Medical Center’s outpatient surgery capacity from 26 to 31 rooms, the facility is meeting the region’s increased demand for outpatient surgery. The Surgery Center opened its doors to the public in August 2007.

Patient comfort and safety, infrastructure upgrades and energy conservation are among CVPH ‘s ongoing objectives, and BVH’s design work has been helping the Medical Center achieve its goals and meet the needs of patients and their families for years to come.

BVH has been working with CVPH since 1995, completing dozens of successful renovation and new construction projects. Many have required extensive phasing and temporary service plans to implement the work with minimal disruption to ongoing hospital operations.

These projects include:

• 60,000-SF Medical Arts building, including non-invasive cardiology and surgeon’s outpatient offices
• 80,000-SF surgery addition and renovations, including boiler, chiller and generator plant upgrades
• Emergency care unit addition/renovation
• Outpatient medical complex including renal dialysis, diagnostic imaging, endoscopic and ambulatory surgery
