Campus Boasts New Social Gathering Spot
Rocky Top Student Center, Quinnipiac University
Quinnipiac University’s York Hill Campus in Hamden, Connecticut has a new student center where students can congregate to dine, exercise, study, and socialize while enjoying sweeping views of Long Island Sound and surrounding woodlands and fields.
The new Rocky Top Student Center, an 85,000-square-foot octagon, affords students the latest in amenities, including fitness facilities, 500-seat dining hall, and study rooms. The Center also contains student health facilities, meeting rooms, a computer room, a post office, and security.
The Centerbrook/BVH Team designed York Hill with numerous sustainable approaches and renewable energy systems, among them a ground source cooling system, photovoltaic collectors, and a highly efficient trigeneration plant. The building also houses the energy and communications center for the new campus.
