New Student Center Builds Community

Simon Student Center, Mercersburg Academy

Designed to create a space where students, staff and faculty could collaboratively interact and develop a sense of community, the renovated Simon Student Center is the new epicenter of social and academic life at Mercersburg Academy.

The project added 6,000 square feet and included a 32,000-SF, top-to-bottom renovation. Among the renovated spaces are the entry lobby, a post office, store, offices, a game space, a meeting room, and storage areas. The Academy’s dining, kitchen, and servery areas also were expanded and renovated.

A true social gathering spot, this new student center meets the diverse needs of the Academy’s population by providing more student-focused and motivated spaces with a broader range of activities and resources.

Mercersburg is a prestigious co-ed school with 430 boarding and day students. Among its notable alumni include seven Rhodes scholars, four recipients of the Congressional Medal of Honor, one Nobel laureate, and actor Jimmy Stewart.
