Designing a City’s Main Street Makeover

Designed to fulfill the judicial and civic needs in the heart of downtown Middletown, the seven-story Middletown Courthouse was built on a prominent Main Street location.

The fast-track design-build project created a seven-story courthouse for the State of Connecticut that not only speaks to the community’s commitment to justice, but also represents the civil renewal and urban regeneration taking place in downtown Middletown over the past 20 years.

The facility houses administrative offices, judge’s chambers, courtrooms, holding cells and a law library. The project also includes a five-story garage for 365 cars. Other engineering services included code reviews, special structural inspection services, cost analysis, and site evaluation.
