At the Yale School of Medicine (YSM), BVH has completed over 20 projects ranging in scope from phased renovations to fit-outs of advanced equipment- and systems-intensive laboratories and offices for the Departments of Neurology, Opthamology, Immuno-Biology, and Cardiology. The facilities have significant state-of-the-art infrastructure in place to accommodate YSM’s biotechnology needs.
BVH’s projects include:
- Engineering design and commissioning for the W.M. Keck Foundation Biotechnology Resource Laboratory, which provides cutting edge cancer research. The laboratory's state-of-the-art equipment, including a mass spectrometer, churns out protein profile data 24 hours a day, seven days a week, bringing researchers closer to the medical promise of the post-genomic era.
- MEP Engineering for the Neurology Lab on the 8th floor of 300 George Street, for a 5,000-SF research laboratory with state-of-the-art HVAC, emergency power and laboratory gas systems designed to serve general laboratory space. Tissue culture (BSL-2 and BSL-3), fume hoods, flow cytometry, bioinformatics functions and equipment support are included.
- Design-build delivery of the relocation of four Mass Spectrometer units and installation of 1 new unit.
- MEP Engineering for the Gates Grant 2nd floor renovations: extended plumbing/lab support systems, new emergency shower/eyewash, ductwork layout modifications and balancing, power branch circuit revisions, lighting relocations; Extension and relocation of laboratory water, air and vacuum to accommodate new wall layout; HVAC systems extension and rebalancing to accommodate the new layout and load requirements.
- MEP Engineering for the conversion of a 900-SF chemistry lab into Zebrafish Laboratory 725, an aquatics core facility.
