University of Vermont
James M. Jeffords Hall
Burlington, VT
Named for Senator James M. Jeffords, this state-of-the-art science building on the campus of UVM is a new, three-floor, 96,000-SF research, laboratory and classroom building. The facility has three stories: seven teaching labs and three classrooms for graduate and undergraduate life science classes on the first floor, and research labs and offices for the Plant Biology and Soil Science departments on the remaining two floors. The new building is physically connected to existing greenhouses on the campus, and part of the design includes transportation of plants and material. The design also connects new utilities from the campus underground system.
BVH provided civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology design and commissioning services for the building, which was designed to achieve LEED Silver standards.
