Optimizing a Chemical Company’s Business Processes

Chemtura Corporation

Naugatuck, Connecticut

Fungicides, flame retardants, petroleum additives and specialty lubricants are among the many products Chemtura Corporation offers to the agriculture, building and construction, electronics, industrial, and transportation markets.

A global specialty chemicals company, Chemtura has over 3,500 employees in research, manufacturing, sales and administrative facilities in every major market of the world. The company manufactures products in 11 countries and sells products in over 100 countries.

BVH has provided engineering services for the Chemtura Corporation for over 15 years. In that time we have performed extensive renovations to the company's laboratories and support space.

As part of a major corporate consolidation, BVH engineered the move of all of Chemtura's Connecticut research functions into two buildings on their Naugatuck campus. This complicated project included development of multiple laboratory spaces for urethane and polymerization research, and analytical laboratories with NMR instrumentation.

BVH "right-sized" existing mechanical systems and equipment. The mechanical design and programming went hand in hand to ensure each laboratory suite was located in a part of the building where existing mechanical systems could properly serve its needs.

BVH's work has helped bring value to Chemtura's bottom line by optimizing business processes and reducing both capital and operational costs.
