Multiple Phases & Rapid Schedules Yield High-Impact Entertainment Environment

Foxwoods Resort Casino

Ledyard, Connecticut

One of the biggest destination developments in the Western Hemisphere, BVH was part of the design team that helped transform Foxwoods Resort Casino from a small enterprise into one of the largest gaming and entertainment attractions of its kind. Over a 10-year phased development plan, BVH performed engineering design for nearly 5.7 million square feet of construction, totaling nearly $1.2 billion.

Projects include:

  • Foxwoods Hotel, Casino & Entertainment Complex
  • Foxwoods Conference Center and Hotel
  • High Stakes Casino and Racebook
  • Multipurpose/Entertainment area
  • Two Trees Inn

Together, Foxwoods Resort Casino comprises six casinos with more than 6,200 slot machines and 380 tables for 17 different types of table games, including 100 for poker, a luxurious, high-tech race book, as well as the world’s largest bingo hall.

Completion of these projects entailed multiple phases and rapid schedules. The casino and hotel, for example, were designed and constructed in an impressive 15 months. A “flash-track” project, the compressed project schedule required careful planning of construction priorities, equipment lead time, and maintaining the safe, ongoing operations of the facilities.

The infrastructure was relocated and replaced while being kept online, including A/C units, generators, primary and secondary electrical service, communications duct bank, water, gas, fire protection, sanitary and storm mains.
