A Community Hospital Transformed

Renovation and Central Utilities, Anna Jaques Hospital

Newburyport, Massachusetts

Increased focus on quality and patient experience has led to significant improvements at Anna Jaques Hospital, an independent, not-for-profit community hospital serving 17 cities and towns in Massachusetts' Merrimack Valley, North Shore and Southern New Hampshire.

Renovations include:

  • Addition of the Institution for Savings Inpatient Unit, an 18-bed, all-private-room unit for medical and surgical patients. The addition of 18 new single-occupancy rooms transforms Anna Jaques into a primarily all-private room hospital. Now, nearly every inpatient gets a single, at no additional cost to the patient or insurance company.
  • An upgraded power plant that saves 15% in energy use, reduces the hospital’s carbon footprint, and provides improved reliability/redundancy.
  • A renovated hospital outpatient entrance area to allow patients easy access in and out of Anna Jaques with serene surroundings.
