Creating a Gathering Place for Fans

Rentschler Field, University of Connecticut

East Hartford, Connecticut

Home to the University of Connecticut Huskies football team, Rentschler Field is one of the region’s premier collegiate arenas in Division I football. The 40,000-seat stadium is located on a 75-acre site that provides unique tailgating opportunities and a great fan experience for UConn Football. Built on an 8.5-acre footprint, Rentschler's playing field is 26 feet below the grade of the surrounding site.

One of a series of economic development projects in Hartford, BVH was afforded an opportunity to help design a revenue-generating, multi-purpose stadium that would attract visitors year round with local events, concerts and community gatherings. Since its opening in 2003, Rentschler Field has attracted major performers including Bruce Springsteen, The Rolling Stones and The Police.

Rentschler Field has become a destination in central Connecticut for athletes, fans and performers alike. The stadium has helped revitalize the capital of Connecticut and connects a region, the City of Hartford and UConn around the traditions and passion of the University's football program.
